What is 01TPU made of?

 

TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) name for Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber, TPU is made up of diphenyl methane diisocyanate (MDI) or toluene diisocyanate (TDI) diisocyanate molecules and macromolecular polyols, such as low molecular polyol (chain extender) polymerization reaction between rubber and plastic kind of polymer material. It has the softness of rubber and the hardness of hard plastic. TPU plastic raw material has excellent wear resistance, more than five times of natural rubber, and is one of the preferred materials for wear resistant products.

The tear strength is the ability of the material to resist tearing. Hydrolysis resistance TPU has good water resistance under turbidity, and no obvious hydrolysis will occur within 1 to 2 years, especially for polyether series. Polyester soaked at 50℃ for half a year or 70℃ for 3 weeks or 100℃ for 3 ~ 4 days, will be completely decomposed. This is one of the reasons for TPU to be suitable for environmental protection materials. Polyether series is recommended for products that need regular contact with water. High temperature resistant and oxidation resistant plastic raw materials are easy to oxidize under the environment of above 70℃ for a long time, and TPU has good oxidation resistance.

 

Generally speaking, TPU temperature resistance can reach 120℃. Oil resistance and drug resistance TPU is a kind of high polymer material with strong polarity. It has little affinity with non-polar mineral oil, and is almost impermeable to erosion in fuel oil (such as kerosene, gasoline) and mechanical oil (such as hydraulic oil, oil, lubricating oil, etc.). Among TPU products, polyester series products have better oil resistance. TPU film and sheet have little volume change to grease, and the tensile strength is even higher than the original initial value. It should be noted that if mineral oil contains a small amount of water, it will have different degrees of negative impact on the physical properties of the film.

 

TPU has a very good low temperature resistance, usually up to -50℃, can replace the general PVC because of low temperature embrittlement can not be used in all fields, especially suitable for the cold zone related products. Gas-tight TPU is very easy to fuse by high frequency or hot pressure, so it is widely used in inflatable products. The gas coefficient refers to the rate at which the gas passes through the sample area under a certain temperature and pressure. The transmittance of the same material to different gases sometimes varies greatly. Generally speaking, polyester series products have better air tightness than polyether series. Biomedical performance TPU has excellent biocompatibility, non-toxic, non-allergic reaction, no local irritation, no heat source, so it is widely used in medical, health and other related products as well as sports and protection equipment.

TPU\TPE what is the difference between materials?

 

TPU is thermoplastic polyurethane and TPE is thermoplastic elastomer. The two materials can usually be used instead of each other. Firstly, the hardness of TPU test was SHORE D and TPE was SHOREA.
